First company: Lucht LHZ receives seal of approval for infrared heaters from the European Infrared Heating Alliance (EIHA)
LUCHT LHZ Elektroheizung GmbH & Co. KG is the first company to receive the new quality seal for infrared heaters from the European Infrared Heating Alliance (EIHA). The “European Quality Label for Infrared Heating” was developed by the IG Infrared regional associations in Germany, Austria and Benelux in cooperation with the Dutch Foundation for Indoor Climate Technology. The consulting company and test laboratory Peutz supported the development process accordingly.
LUCHT LHZ is an international manufacturer of direct electric heating devices and has more than 35 years of experience in the industry. The family-run company’s product portfolio includes all types of electric heating: from infrared heaters to surface storage heaters and convectors. The medium-sized company from Saxony has around 65 employees and produces the innovative heating devices in Burgstรคdt and in neighboring Hartmannsdorf.
“The demand for infrared heaters continues to rise and so does the supply. The seal of quality gives end customers, but also installation companies, more guidance on which devices comply with the current standard and have also been tested for this. In any case, we are very pleased that we are the first company to receive the EIHA Quality Label,” says Uwe Lucht, Managing Director of LUCHT LHZ.
The European Infrared Heating Alliance has defined four criteria that must be met in order to be awarded the quality seal. Firstly, the device must have been tested in accordance with the IEC 60675-3:2020 standard and can be classified as an โelectric infrared heaterโ due to the product properties, whereby at least 40 percent of the energy used must be converted into radiant heat. Secondly, the manufacturer needs a CE certification for the product from a recognized, independent testing institute.
Thirdly, quality and safety certification with annual inspection of the manufacturing facilities is required, which is carried out by an accredited, independent testing and certification company. Finally, the device must be technically designed to meet the requirements of Regulation (EU) 2015/1188 (Ecodesign Directive of January 1, 2018) and achieve an efficiency of over 38 percent.
